A little birdie told me that feathers are all the rage this season. Wear them in your hair, dangling from your ears, perched on your stilettos, or floating on the edge of a scarf. They’re a great way to soften any look and add a dash of unexpected fantasy, whether it’s in your wardrobe or in your home. So take a cue from our friends in the sky and feather your nest this season…

•Add some great abstract bird or feather photography to your walls. The downy texture of feathers accomplishes softening a room the same way that fabrics do.

•Ceremonial Juju hats are a beautiful, sculptural addition to any space and make great conversation pieces.

•Forget filling vases with plants, sticks, and flowers. Fill them with feathers (which can be bought inexpensively at craft stores) to show you know how to think outside the box. Or tuck them into arrangements for a little whimsical surprise! They will last and last, provide the same organic feeling of flora, and with all the colors you can find them in, they are sure to jazz up a table in a unique and flirty way!

•I am totally obsessed with feathery lighting fixtures! They naturally diffuse the light and add a heavenly, glowing aura to any room.

•Feathers also make great holiday décor, whether inside vessels, glass ornaments, or making up the body of wreaths and trees, large or small. Plus it’s nice to add a little loftiness into the mix to help balance out all the prickly pine and fir needles!
