Are you ready for some football?? I know I am! Check out this New York Giants mood board I created on olioboard a really cool site where anyone can create their own inspiration board)…Go Giants!
1. Don’t go too literal! I chose one of the Giant’s colors- sapphire blue- and incorporated it in a sophisticated and interesting way- like in the deep navy wall color and the LED lighting on the pool and poker tables. You could also bring in through a deep, dyed leather or a natural stone if you wanted, too. You’re not looking for exact color, just simply trying to create a mood.
2. Lighting- make it warm, dim, and soft. The last thing you need is glare on your many, many tv screens (which I am all for, btw). This is not a space that has to be brightly lit- you want glow, not shine. One of my favorite things to use is sconces, especially mounted low to light the walking path, and back-lit onyx: super cool for bars.
3. It’s not a mancave without some caveman elements- go big or go home with stone, hardwood, fire, and animal skins!
4. Don’t go overboard with the team gear. Now, I’m not saying you can’t have a bunch of cool stuff, just look for items of value (monetary or sentimental), artwork/photography, and anything tasteful. Here we see some team spirit brought in on vintage barware and playing cards. You can also go uber cool and have the team logo stamped in your leather upholstery or in the center of your game tables.
5. Take pride in your team and all your treasured memorabilia and create an amazing custom display area. I like to take a little inspiration from Gucci stores- they do it really well- with sexy lighting and smoked glass. Very nice.
6. And last but not least, have fun! Choose items that are well-made and durable for all those weekends of heavy football watching and pizza eating and you and your amigos are sure to always have an awesome time!
