Today features a journey into the wild, the world of wild and exotic patterns that is. Animal prints, used as accents, are once again become increasingly popular with my favorite of them being the zebra print. In the past, animal patterns were often associated with being garish and of ill taste, but used in moderation, they can look stunning, adding just the right amount of drama and flair to a simple space.

When it comes to designing with this bold pattern, less is always more. Too much of the material and it can easily come across as gaudy and unfashionable. Incorporating it in moderation through accent pieces and accessories is key. A pop of pattern can go a long way. Use it unexpectedly throughout the design by reupholstering it on a side chair, incorporating it into a throw rug or use it in an accent pillow.

Bold and flavorful, these patterns as you can see can be mixed and intermingled into a variety of decorative styles. Dressed down it can look playful and fun but it can also be styled to look high fashion and chic. So what do you think? Could you be persuaded to add a punch of zebra into your design?

I like a hint of the wild in my decor.  It energizes my senses and stirs my imagination.

We agree…Nothing says “rawr” like a good old animal print!
