Atlanta Homes | Home Tour
By: Georgette Mosley
Join us on our adventure of the Modern Atlanta Homes Tour 2012! This year Tom, Michelle and their little ones all came to partake in the event, during which I got the chance meet them for the first time! The Modern Atlanta Home Tour is an event that showcases some of the most stunning modern residential designs currently in Atlanta. Below you’ll be able to see a few of the homes in which we toured while maybe gaining a little inspiration for your own home redesign!
This mid century modern home displayed a somewhat monochromatic interior overflowing with glass, stacked stone and stuccowork. It is a contemporary styled scheme mixed in with warm wooden organic accents making it a sleek and stunning decor. Large windows placed throughout the interior created an open and airy feel. The wooden living room coffee table is my absolute favorite!
This East Avenue home was given a LEED silver rating for its sustainable design and use of local materials. Not to be overlooked, the outdoor area was fit for entertaining as it stood next to a beautiful boxed pool. The interior décor showcased an eclectic mix of articles and accessories that reflected heavily on the home owners loves and passions. In the bathroom, two pocket doors were placed on a corner wall that opened up to a free-standing tub. What a creative idea!
The Plutino House showcased an outdoor space that was simply amazing. Through the integration of contrasting materials (concrete, wood and stone), the design came across as stylishly modern. The interesting way in which the homeowners organized their outdoor area created somewhat of a story. From the bedded plants to the Kio Pond, there was so much to see! The same theme displayed on the outdoor façade was carried throughout the subdued color palette interior overflowing with architectural detailing and craftsmanship.
With 24-foot ceilings, this Walsh house towered with oversized windows that worked to enhance the overall feel of the interior space. Wood trimming was heavily prominent throughout the décor giving it somewhat of a rustic flair. The rooftop space overhead projected stunning views of the Atlanta skyline and would make for a perfect place to hang out on a cool summer night.
One of the most memorable spaces that we ventured to during the tour was probably the Justice/Kohlsdorf house. As homeowner Shelly oversaw the designing of the interior space herself, it’s easy to understand why the layout was layered with so much character and color! From the inside out, the space kept you guessing, and wondering, “what’s next” around the corner. It housed a gun range, entertainment room, art gallery and an over the top large scaled bar that made for great entertaining. What an amazing space!
