Getting the Most Out of the Last Weekends of Summer
By:Taylor Methfessel

Summer | Vacation Spots

It’s hard to believe that it’s already the middle of August. Soon enough, life will return to its fast pace. The days will get shorter, the weather colder. We can hear the clock ticking away. So with so little time left before September, how can you be sure that you’re spending these last few summer weekends wisely?

We wanted to share with you five destinations that are perfectly fit for a short getaway. It’s no coincidence that each is located along the coast. After all, is there anything better than lying in a lounge chair, falling asleep to the sound of the ocean waves?

White Elephant | Nantucket | Hotel

There’s nothing like Nantucket in the summertime. The town is bustling, the harbor is filled with boat traffic and people are dressed in their brightest apparel. The White Elephant is a charming property on the island that offers various accommodation types, from one bedroom garden cottages to three bedroom lofts. The hotel houses a spa and restaurant and is just a short distance from the shops of downtown.

The Cloister | Sea Island | Georgia

The Cloister in Sea Island, Georgia is an elegant resort that offers guests a Forbes Five-Star spa and restaurant. From boating and fishing to horseback riding and clay pigeon shooting, there’s no shortage of activities onsite. And did we mention that the hotel also has a movie theatre and an ice cream shop?

Kiawah Island | Vacation | Hotels

Kiawah Island is home to ten miles of South Carolina beach. The island has five championship golf courses that provide the perfect location from which to admire the natural scenery. The Sanctuary Hotel is an oceanfront mansion that was voted the number one family resort in the U.S. and Canada by Travel and Leisure Family Magazine.

St. Regis | Bal Harbour | Hotel | Vacation

The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort just opened this year but it’s already making headlines, receiving a AAA Five-Diamond award for 2012. All of the property’s 243 guest rooms feature balconies with ocean views. The hotel is conveniently located next to Miami’s most prestigious shops and is also close to downtown South Beach, making it an exciting place to spend the weekend.

St. Barths | Hotel | Vacation

St. Barths is the epitome of luxury, featuring world class hotels, restaurants and shopping. The island’s elegant atmosphere makes it ideal for couples, although many families also frequent this Caribbean paradise. One of our favorite properties is Hotel Taiwana, a boutique hotel located on Flamands Beach. The Taiwana features a noteworthy restaurant, a pool, beach lounges and a salon.

To take advantage of one of these properties contact us at 212.268.9088 or visit our website. Enjoy the last weeks of summer, everyone!
