Puppy Love
By: Jon Peters
Who doesn’t love them some puppies? They’re adorable, playful, and are just like babies, except furry. Some people say the dog breed you choose directly reflects your personality and who you are, so selecting the most compatible fit is important. Eventually (*spoiler alert*), puppies grow into adult dogs, so matching the right breed to fit your lifestyle should be priority numero uno when dog searching. Below are a few of my favorite breeds, each for different reasons. Enjoy!
Schnauzers are a handsome, sometimes feisty, intelligent and energetic breed of dog. At times dominant or aggressive, they make great watch dogs.
Shar Peis are very loyal to their owners (and who could resist those wrinkles!) but they tend to be wary of strangers, so socialization is a must!
Perhaps the most intelligent dog on my short list, Shelties are super smart which makes them great herders and obedience trainers.
Corgis are so happy, energetic, and dependable. They are super athletic and fast on their little legs, so a fenced in yard is best. Hey, if they’re good enough Queen of England then they must be special!
Dachshunds, aka Wiener Dogs, were bred to hunt and track scent. They are unbelievably persistent for their small size, which makes them a great family dog to have around. Their frame makes them instantly cute.
The Dalmatians size makes them a challenge to train, but once they get that behind them they are awesome family dogs. They need a strong-willed owner to teach them leadership, but who could resist those spots!?
Our new shop dog JUST so happens to be a Labradoodle (actually, this labradoodle) and he is awesome. They are so soft, hypoallergenic, and intelligent. In fact, Tagg is a new graduate – fresh from puppy school!
I personally have a Bull Terrier. This breed is muscular, full of energy, and clownish. They love making their owners laugh and can be quite the bed hog (trust me)!
Shiba Inus are extremely neat and clean. They are easy to potty train, as well as agile and a great watchdog!
Yorkies are extremely close with their primary owner, and will follow them from room to room. If they aren’t immediately trained from day one they can be mischievous, but their personality, intelligence, and courage make this dog great!
