Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of people embracing pattern. I’ve been noticing a lot of florals and Chinese-inspired patterns for fabrics, wallcoverings and décor items, and I’m feeling like it’s about time we all decorate with a little pattern pizzazz! Like most people, I don’t like to get TOO crazy with the pattern on pattern, but I definitely think that a little can go a long way to help out an otherwise boring space. Believe it or not, there was a time when none of anything I owned had any kind of pattern, in fact most of my bedding, pillows, dishes and just about anything else you can think of in my home was just a solid color. Long gone are those days, and today I’m happily trying to perfect pattern in my own home.
One thing that I recognize in myself if that I’m loving geometric patterns! Something about my OCD just loves the repeat and symmetry, so it’s no surprise that I’d be equally as obsessed with Greek key. I could totally get a little Greek key overboard, but what I like about this pattern is that you can either use a lot, like an entire Jonathan Adler (the king of Greek key) rug, or a decorative tape for window panels (like Mary McDonald’s line for Schumacher). Here are a few Greek key items that I’m currently fixated with, and could totally envision myself owning one of these days!
