Job Title: Senior Interior Designer/Project Manager
Reports to: CEO & President/ Principal Designer
Employment Status: Full-Time Employee
Pay Range: Salary Negotiable
Key Responsibilities:
Design
- Programming: attend client meetings, take notes and gather information to use in developing concept; write up and distribute meeting notes
- Develop concepts independently or as a leader of a design team, dependent on size of project
- Develop preliminary design using sketches and drawings as needed to communicate concept
- Develop color and material options for review by Principal Designer or client
- Develop specifications for color and material selections once decided upon by client
- Prepare or over see drawings and documents for construction of projects including, but not limited to, plans, elevations, sections, and perspectives
- Self-educate re: current and changing design technology and trends
All of the above plus:
Project Management
- Assist President/Principal Designer in managing projects
- Oversee sub contract labor
- Oversee all ordering and installing
- In essence, in charge of the implementing projects
- Photograph progress on current jobs
Administrative
- Write and track purchase orders for clients; update clients bimonthly re: project progression and merchandise location
- Write and update work plans independently, dependent on size of project
- For each project, refer frequently to own copy of Letter of Agreement to remain on track
- Assist in keeping resource room organized and current
- Provide Administrative support for client meetings, answer phones, conduct mailings, assist with office supplies, and run errands as needed
- Maintain normal office hours, open and close facilities
- Keep track of own time spent on project(s)
- Keep track of travel time for client
Billing & Time Sheet
- Enter own time into firms web based tracking software
- Attempt resolution of client billing issues independently; if unable to resolve, seek assistance from CEO
Professional Practice & Marketing
- Present consistently professional manner in office, at client meetings, and within design community
- Be accountable for quality of work performed, client services, and profitability
Authority
- Dependant on type of project and who is working under you
Social Media
- Contribute to design blog once a week.
- Have an active presence on both Twitter and Facebook
- Post inspiration photos on firms Facebook “fanpage”.
- Engage both designer community and potential clients via social media outlets
- Other social media requests as needed
Other Responsibilities
- Increase skills and knowledge pertinent to the position via onsite training and offsite classes; increase skills and knowledge pertinent to other positions, subject to supervisor approval
- Perform other tasks as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Minimum three or four year interior design degree required
- Must either have or be pursuing State of Florida licensing for Interior Design
- Additional licenses/certificates: NCIDQ, ASID, IIDA, LEED AP
- Minimum of three years experience
- Knowledge of basic design principles and concepts and methodology of interior design
- Drafting: know of drafting techniques including labeling drawings, line weights, typical dimensions needed on drawings
- Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD 2010
- Ability to understand and prepare interior design drawings including floor plan s , reflected ceiling plans, and specifications
- Facility with software programs including MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and Photoshop
- General knowledge of Residential and Contract furniture and fabrics
- Ability to research and develop project solutions with direction from senior staff
- Ability to learn firms accounting software for input of purchase orders, and proposals and time/billing information
- Ability to organize and track projects in order to stay within the scope of work
- Ability to assemble color and material boards
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing, orally, and using graphic media
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with new and current clients
- Ability to assist

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to hear and speak to employees and customers on the phone and in person
- Ability to visit construction sites
- Ability to see the letters and numbers on a personal computer screen and on memos, reports and other documents (near vision)
- Requires moderate right and left hand coordination for the use of a personal computer/laptop, as well as a mouse for design purposes
- Requires ability to transport self to and from appointments as well as haul necessary samples

- Travel is required. Automobile with valid insurance is required.
Hours:
This is a salaried position. As such a Senior Designer is expected to maintain office hours necessary to address all responsibilities. A Midlevel Designer is expected to be in the office from at least 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (subject to change by management and or company requirements).
